  1. Greetings Kath and Sal: What beautiful sights you are experiencing and how gracious the people are in welcoming you and always looking to help you out as needed. Glad Maddie is fine and that your bike, Kath, is working again. The weather you are encountering is much different from ours what with the howling Santa Ana winds and the wildfires that are springing up all over the state. In fact, this AM, a fire broke out north of us in Simi Valley. Our car is loaded, and we are ready to evacuate if need be. Nearly a year ago, we had to evacuate due to the Woolsey Fire. We bet Nashville was something to see. We loved the recent Ken Burns’ Documentary on Country Music. Lot of history there in Nashville. That’s cool about the Shakers – I (Larry) did a term paper in High School on the Shakers – what a sect. As Sal said, not for the wimps! BTW, got an “A” on the paper! Continued safe travels. Love, Monika and Lar

    • Hi Monika and Lar,
We have been following the scary news about all the fires ravaging our state and are so sorry to hear that one is threatening you guys. Yes, it is hard to fathom how it has been freezing cold where we are and such a huge contrast in California. So, we’re rooting for you and praying, hope you’re able to stay home and stay safe!
Thank you for all your thoughtful and supportive comments on Sally’s blog. It has been challenging at times for her to stick with this day after day and I know that your comments and support have really helped encourage her.
      Much love to you both,
      Kath

  2. Hi Kath and Sal: Thanks for your good wishes for us during the recent fires. We were fine and things are now back to normal. Loved the recent pics including your bike ride along the Might Mississippi as well as Maddie meeting her new friend. Wow, you guys have seen all sorts of weather! Glad you have navigated safely through it all. Ditto for getting your solar panels buttoned down. You’ve had great experience along the way with vendors, the Vet, etc. Speaks well for those parts of the country. As always, loved Sal’s art work and narratives. Selfishly, we hate to see your travels come to an end since we both look forward to your updates along the way. Almost like being there with you! All our love – be safe
    Monika and Lar
